Walking the greenbelt trails in Kingwood, Texas today, I came across this Coral Snake. Coral Snakes are one of the venomous snakes that can be found in Texas. Note the pattern or red and yellow bands touching one another. While not a 100% perfect identifier, most of the time it will prove true. This is not a snake you want to handle as their bites will introduce a neurotoxin. King Snakes are often confused as Coral Snakes. Their pattern is red and black bands touching.
