Live from Tel Aviv on Saturday, January 7, as protesters are expected to demonstrate against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his new government, warning that plans to curb the powers of the Supreme Court pose a serious threat to democracy.

The organisers have declared that "Israel is undergoing a regime change that includes the abolishment of the fundamentals of a liberal democracy".

It follows reforms unveiled by new Justice Minister Yariv Levin on Wednesday, which include allowing parliament to override the Supreme Court's decisions.

Netanyahu's right-wing bloc secured 64 seats in the 120-seat parliament. Israel's longest-serving prime minister reached agreements with Itamar Ben-Gvir, Bezalel Smotrich and Avi Maoz, forming what many consider to be the most right-wing government in the country's history.
