Godfred Ollobik the Viking (a reading)

My research for the recording of Merch Megan, led me to this very strange story published in Blackwoods Edinburgh magazine in 1854. Link here:

The story appears to be Chapter 1 of a series on the family history of the Willoughbies of Stoke.

I cannot find any evidence of the existence of Ollobik the viking, or the existence of his son Ollobius de Merlitor in the Doomsday Book.

The connection is that this story is about Gwen Ollobik nee Gyffyd (who is the daughter of Megan Gyffyd), who, it is implied, the famous Welsh air is about. While someone has put these people into Ancestry.com as real, I'm not sure that any evidence exists other than this story.

Here lies a mystery indeed!
