Juventus: Why Football Fans HATE Them! 😤

Juventus in Italy is surely THE dominant team on the national (and recently international) scene.

The reason behind hatred goes beyond their dominant role in Italy, and is mainly rooted in the arrogant ways of their fans and management.

This is arrogance is somehow embedded in the team’s culture, as exemplified by one of the (un)official mottos of the team: “Winning is not important, it’s the only things that matters” (Vincere non e’ importante, e’ l’unica cosa che conta). This is somehow controversial, due to the great length of scandals this team have been linked to, also because the ties between Juventus and the Agnelli family, one of the most powerful and rich family in Italy and Turin. Over the years, Juventus has been accused and proven guilty of using doping on its own athletes and in the last decade, of creating a thick network which was headed by the former general manager Luciano Moggi, who’s now banned from the Football world. This latest scandal brought the revocation of two national championship and relegation of Juventus team. Other teams, Including AC Milan, Fiorentina etc. were accused and proven guilty of having had similar (albeit minor) networks and were also punished with penalties and points loss. FC inter was proven part of the scandal as well, but not punished due to the sentence being statute barred.

Currently, Juventus still claims the revoked titles, and those are represented in their stadium as if they still had them, despite what the Italian federation says.

They also refused to wear the two stars (signaling 20+ victories in the national championship) since they claimed to deserve 3 stars having had 30 championship won “on the field”, and started having jersey donned with stars only when they won officially the 30th championship (32nd according to juventus and fans)

This unsportsmanlike attitude in addition to the average football fan being not a local, but mostly bandwagon fans following the winning team, created hatred towards the team, as much that one of the most popular and shared motto of football fans in italy is “Whom who loves soccer hates Juventus”
