Most EU countries back pre-departure COVID-19 testing for Chinese flights

The European Commission said in addition to targeting COVID-19 testing, it also included a recommendation for mask-wearing on flights from China, wastewater monitoring for aircraft arriving from China, genomic surveillance at airports and increased monitoring and sequencing, EU spokesperson Tim McPhie told a news briefing. Plus, Germany is aiming for a joint European response to the surge in COVID-19 infections in China, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said as EU government health officials met for talks on Wednesday.
