(Note: I visited the Vatican in 2012. I was told the Egyptian Obelisk was brought to Rome by Emperor Caligula in 37 AD. Secondly, I was taken back by all the idle riches within all Rome’s Basilicas. I was more impressed by the persecuted early Christians that built and hid in the catacombs discovered just outside Rome. There, they even secretly held gatherings with the breaking of the bread and wine in memory of Christ in early versions of the mass. My only souvenir from the trip was a replica clay oil lamp used in the total darkness. Are these amassed Catholic riches and the pagan phallus honoring God or mocking God?
