A recount for the Arizona Attorney General Race took place the week of December 26th. The vote margin between Republican Abraham Hamadeh and Democrat Kris Mayes has essentially been cut in half as a result of the recount, to a historic 280 votes (down from 511 previously). This revelation came out after officials in Pinal County announced that there had been unreported errors about the election, in which the county officials failed to mention while Abe Hamadeh was in court contesting the election. Although abe isn't backing down. Abe said that he intents to contest this election by filing another lawsuit in court. Hamadeh will be claiming that there were significant irregularities, and he believes that with a thorough recount of legal votes, he will win the race. This is the closest an Attorney General's race has been in Arizona history.
The 2022 elections in Arizona have received national attention. As many states have been finished with their elections for months now, they are not over in Arizona. With the ongoing legal battle between Kari Lake and Katie Hobbs and this lawsuit by Abe Hamadeh to contest the election, there's a lot going on in the state of Arizona so far in 2023.
