As the years passed, the emperor began to grow tired of Marcus's jokes. He had heard them all before, and he found that Marcus's antics were no longer amusing.

One day, the emperor summoned Marcus to his palace. "Marcus, I have a special task for you," he said. "I want you to tell a joke that will make me laugh harder than I have ever laughed before."

Marcus was nervous, but he knew that he had to try. He racked his brain for the funniest joke he knew, and he finally came up with one.

"Your Majesty, what's the difference between a Roman soldier and a Greek soldier?" Marcus asked.

The emperor rolled his eyes, expecting the same old joke. "A Roman soldier carries a shield, while a Greek soldier carries a menu," Marcus said.

But to Marcus's surprise, the emperor didn't laugh. In fact, he was enraged. "How dare you insult my soldiers!" he yelled. "You are nothing but a disrespectful fool!"

Marcus was shocked by the emperor's reaction, and he fell to his knees, begging for mercy. But it was too late - the emperor had made up his mind.

"For your crimes against Rome, you are sentenced to death," he declared.

And with that, Marcus was led away to the execution chamber, his dreams of becoming the greatest comedian in Rome shattered forever.

The end.
