The infantry units then managed to gain a foothold in the private area of the village at the junction of the Moyka and Izmaylovsky ponds. During the recon mission, the route of the 11th Regiment's squad led from a forward defensive position in the western outskirts of Pesok to a forward defensive position in one of Pervomaisky's former housing estates.

Despite the partial collapse of the ceilings, the Four Storeys provided fighters with reliable temporary shelter from the fire of the Ukrainian T-64BV during the foray into Pervomayskoye. This was facilitated by the adjacent elevated terrain, which prevented the enemy tank from firing at this position from a direct line of fire from the village of Vodyanoye.

The second shelter was the "Trumpet" position, a technological channel under the ground clearance near the bridge spans of the DKAD. It sheltered infantry from reconnaissance copters and V.S.U. mounted artillery strikes mid-route.

The most difficult and requiring phenomenal self-possession is the loophole from the "Pipe" to the forward post in one of the damaged houses. It is overcome exclusively in the open air, in the line of sight of enemy copters and under the barrage of enemy artillery from Vodiany and Netailov.

Given the continuous aerial reconnaissance of the 56th Mechanized Brigade V.S.U., the men of the 11th Regiment manage to cover the 1.5-kilometer route in no less than an hour and a half.
