Combat footage of AFU (Ukrainian forces) Movement to Contact

This video shows combat of a Ukrainian soldier advancing under fire. It is conventional war with trenches and indirect fire. It is not gory, but you'll hear the soldier get wounded.

When I look at it, I wonder a few things:
1. Why advance under fire when you have prepared positions? Why give up the advantage of the defense?
2. Why advance when there is no indirect fire to cover your advance? (Good mission for 60mm mortars, if nothing else is available.)
3. Why aren't there pre-planned sectors of fire for indirect fire? (They should be able to just make a single transmission to get rounds down range.)
4. Why not have secondary positions to fall back to or move to in order to meet the advance? (There is no doubt drones watching, but moving around will make it harder for the enemy to pinpoint your position.)

Moral: Don't send a man where you can send a round or send the man at all.

Don't bring electronics to the battlefield which can be captured and exploited for intelligence. Russian electronic warfare abilities are said to be able to capture signals, spoof signals, and send them to the source. You might love your phone, but a hard case in your butt pack turned off is the best place.

Their positions leave a lot of "target indicators." In my very humble opinion, the Russians had no trouble figuring out where their position was with the amount of garbage and equipment left lying around.

The Ukrainians are in the permanent strategic defensive and the Russians are notching the arrow pulling it back. Why hurry if the enemy is permanently in the defense? The Ukrainian government bought into believing that the US would save their bacon. Pity.
