The president of Stanford University is under investigation after a school newspaper report shed light on possibly altered material in the president's earlier academic work.
A report in the Stanford Daily earlier this week claimed that a research paper coauthored by University President Marc Tessier-Lavigne appeared to have "multiple altered images," while several other papers had additional "serious errors" within them. 
The university initially "downplayed" the allegations, the Daily reported, but shortly thereafter the school said it was launching an investigation into the alleged errors.
The investigation will be overseen by the board of trustees, the Daily reported.
