Florida father, daughter accused of burning raccoon alive in disturbing video.
On Thursday, a father and daughter from Sarasota were arrested on suspicion they were involved in a distressing viral video that featured a raccoon being burned alive in a dumpster.
“Today we share another video likely to go viral depicting the two people responsible,” the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said.
The sheriff's office claimed that Alicia and Roddy Kincheloe, both of Sarasota, were detained after “one of the most extensive investigations ever conducted by our agricultural unit.”
According to deputies, the raccoon could be seen stuck inside a dumpster in Alicia Kincheloe's Snapchat video "not showing any symptoms of hostility." Alicia Kincheloe, who can be heard in the video taken Aug. 11, said that the raccoon was "mean" and exposed its teeth to those passing by the bin despite this.
A second video shows Alicia Kincheloe approaching the same dumpster that was filled with the animal's burnt and smoldering remains while laughing.
“Some people say throw an apple with bleach in there,” Alicia Kincheloe said. “We just toasted his a**. Who’s hungry?”
Deputies met Alicia Kincheloe at her house a day after the unsettling Snapchat post at which point she confessed to recording and posting the video, although she said she had discovered the dumpster already smoldering.Alicia Kincheloe continued by saying that she and Roddy Kincheloe doused the flames with water from a gas can. Deputies were skeptical and seized the gas can later that day and discovered it to be highly combustible.
Deputies discovered surveillance video that had the entire incident captured on camera as they continued to investigate. According to deputies, the video showed Alicia Kincheloe reaching into the trash can with a pitchfork in an effort to remove the dead raccoon and conceal it from law enforcement.
Charges of aggravated animal cruelty and tampering with tangible evidence were brought against Alicia Kincheloe. A single count of aggravated animal cruelty was brought against Roddy Kincheloe.
“To see an animal essentially burned alive and have Alicia making comments over the video… is just the mind of a sick individual,” Sheriff Kurt Hoffman said.
