Driver Strikes Vehicle, Flees, Then Causes Head On Collision with Another Vehicle, Intoxication Suspected, LIVINGSTON, December 27, 2022 - At approximately 1:35 pm on December 27, 2022, a white 2008 Dodge Avengner, driven by Stephen Viellieux, 20, of Livingston, was involved in a hit and run accident when he struck another vehicle (next to Melbo's Store). Viellieux fled and continued south on US-146. As Viellieux was passing Tony Pebbles Road, he crossed over the center line and had a glancing head on collision with a blue 2008 Nissan Murano, driven by Stella Hill, 55, of Porter. The impact spun both vehicles around facing their opposite directions of travel as both came to rest on the pavement of the north-bound lanes. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, Officers from Livingston Police Department and Corporal Ramey Bass who was joined by Trooper Johnny Wilkerson and Sergeant Sam Lattner (all with the Texas Highway Patrol). As police arrived Viellieux was apparently trying to flee on foot, but was caught by Troopers and Officers with Livingston PD. Viellieux was apprehended and put into the back of a Livingston Unit. Stella Hill emerged from her vehicle injured and laid down in the grass. Both Hill and her passenger were transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Viellieux was physically uninjured. The south-bound lanes of traffic on 146 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. Viellieux had the smell of alcohol and what appeared to be prescription pills were found in his vehicle. Viellieux is likely facing a list of charges that are likely to be enhanced pending a toxicology report. Viellieux's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. Hill's vehicle was recovered by LakeView Towing and will also be stored in Livingston. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol and the City of Livingston Police Department.
