Cassie Love's Yoga story - injury turned to gift

A short biography of my chronic back pain, a yoga practice and years of misalignment that led me to a serious injury. I broke bones in my spine and crushed two disc in a yin yoga class. I learned movement adds up. Misaligned yoga can lead to a yoga injury and hurt your body especially repeated for years. In my struggle to heal my own body I picked up a lot of understanding around alignment, biomechanics and natural movement to help heal the body and reduce pain naturally.

Now I teach Alignment and biomechanics which are key to keeping a yoga practice healthy and sustainable.

Cassie Love's Yoga story - injury turned to gift

This year I’m celebrating practicing yoga for 31 years. I got into yoga when I was 8 years old because of chronic back pain. After a while I became a teacher as a way of connecting to the community, never really intending to do it full time. Everything changed when I broke bones in my spine and crushed two disc during a yoga class. As part of my recovery I began a thorough study of advanced biomechanics, natural movements, and anatomy, which lead me to completed a 2 year program in Restorative Exercise with Katie Bowman.

My research led me to the surprising realization that years of misaligned yoga had been at the root of my ongoing back pain. Years of improper technique and misalignment's that went unnoticed and uncorrected by so many instructors had actually led to my injury. Since then it has become my passion to share my knowledge of health enhanced movements, one alignment point at a time.

If people want to practice yoga for spirituality I love it. If people want to practice for their mental health - I know it, I’m right there with you. But a strong focus on alignment and biomechanics can keep the practice healthy and sustainable for the body no matter the reason for practicing.

Mission: to share health enhanced movements, one alignment point at a time!
