The sabotage of President Trump’s move to fill the strategic petrol reserve

Wow. I learned about this from a troll who said my original video was fake news, because — In spite of President Trump’s announcement in 2020 that he was filling up the Strategic Petroleum Reserve with 75 million barrels of oil at $20 a barrel in March 2020, and then again when it went shockingly negative in April 2020 — after his energy Secretary issued a request for proposal from small U.S. oil producers — what we didn’t know was that as part of the Covid stimulus package, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer axed the funding for this purchase, saying it was a “gift to big oil.” (Congress commands the purse; yet we had billions for all kinds of lesser causes in the recent omnibus bill. What could be more important than energy security?)
This hits particularly ugly at any bona fide efforts to do right by American taxpayers — in fact it’s a slap in the face to all of us. There was very little media coverage of this sabotage; and then recently, when Biden authorized the purchase of 3 million barrels of oil (15% of DAILY U.S. demand) “to fill up the strategic petroleum reserve” after the price of oil fell from $100 a barrel to $74, the media and Twitter surrogates lauded Biden for making a great business decision since the purchase price was “low.” Low compared to what? Certainly not compared to the levels in 2020, when Trump asked his cabinet to make the advantageous purchases happen. Which they never did.
