“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.” (Revelation 2:7)

I did NOT grow in a household with a single mother. Just the opposite, I grew up in a household with a strong Black male. My father always talked to us about street life, and what was happening in the streets. But what stuck in my head through-out my life was the clear warnings he gave of two things:

1. drugs, and
2. homosexuality

My father told us to stay away from these vices because we may "like" them. I was shocked that he would infer such a thing. But daddy knew what he was telling his children. This stuck in my head like glue to paper. I have never forgotten, and in fact, it has been one of the primary reasons why I have never strayed toward either of those lifestyles.

Thank you Jesus for giving my daddy those words to share with his children. Today, I live and stand by them, and I have warned my own children of these vices, and I pray that they take heed, like I did.
