Back in the 80s 90s and 2000s people were limited to the entertainment that was available.
Everyone would watch the same shows because we all had the same different channels on Television (there was no video streaming )
People listened to music because it was entertainment just like anything else but the music industry is now competing with video games.
Movies and music are competiting with video games.
