Luke 20:1-27 "The Gospel"

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 4:17 ESV)
The gospel Jesus and John the Baptist before Him preached was a gospel of repentance.
The reason this is important is because there is a movement in religious circles that adheres to a “no lordship salvation,” or as it is called, “easy believism, or “cheap grace.”
That you can believe in Jesus…but not believe He is Lord of your life.
No-lordship salvation suggests that you simply have to believe in order to be saved…
That there is no corresponding need for a committed life of discipleship to our Lord Jesus.
Discipleship is seen as a path that some Christians follow, but not others.
They believe that "accepting Jesus" does not involve any further commitments from us.
They also argue that repentance is not a condition of salvation.
Some of this is being taught at seminaries…and the major problem with this is that it has led many to feel…
That all they have to do is believe in Jesus…and they can just go on living as they did before Christ.
As a result of that line of thinking…the gospel itself is under attack today…why?
Because it is…central…to our salvation.
