Can woke soldiers be good soldiers?

For my foreign viewers, "Woke" means “Woke means alert to injustice in society, especially racism.” And segregation was a period of time in some states in the American south where white Americans tried to keep African Americans in a subordinate status by denying them equal access to public facilities and ensuring that blacks lived apart from whites

Note that I did not cover the Civil War and the formation of Black Regiments. I only have 60 seconds and I considered it more important to highlight that the Army forced Southern shopkeepers to serve black soldiers or lose their lucrative Army contracts.
