Abandoned Funeral Home Family House - Who spooked them away?

We had no idea that this old abandoned house we were about explore was the fo;ks from Hower Funeral home in Gary Indiana! What a suprise to find this by accident. Hower Funeral home was established in 1934. Family owned since then until it closed. I believe the last owner & operator was Violet Hower "Vye" James, Of Gary, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Methodist Hospital Southlake Campus in Merrillvillle. Preceded in death by husband, Edward "Doc" James; parents, Victor and Ollie Hower; brother, Victor "Sonny" Hower Jr. Violet was a graduate of Bishop Noll Institute and Worsham College of Mortuary Science. She was also a retired licensed cosmetologist and beautician.
