They will think they can be God until the transgression has come to the full. The devil knows God does not dwell in corrupted flesh. Everyone will be caused to sell their souls to the devil: man, woman, children, rich, poor, free or prisoners.

He wants to be worshipped as God so he has to work at the level that only the Spirit of God will reveal what is unfolding to those who are the lost sheep and or to be grafted in as Abraham's seed. Time is up for the devil and humanity. We need to put our houses in order so we can get off the earth in God's perfect timing and not man or the devil.
People are being led to gain the world first then they will be depopulated off the earth to hell. The final world war is for the souls of man, where everyone will be the walking dead like days of Noah except the elect.
