In every instance where the narrator uses the phrase “the system” a case could be made to replace it with “the world” and not do any harm to his presentation.

The old line Theologians called “the world” the “old hag” or “the beast.”
Many historical witches were men posing as women. Those who cavort with familiar spirits. Who are the people who depict themselves as another gender?
