MY COUNTRY HEAVEN Poetry inspired by Dorothea Mackellar

In 1901, A YOUNG AUSTRALIAN POET, DOROTHEA MACKELLAR, wrote a poem that captured the comparison between the landscape of lush, green England, and Dorothea’s homeland of Australia – a sunburnt country, as Dorothea described it – a land of sweeping plains … of droughts or flooding rains! That poem, simply titled “My Country” gained International recognition.
