The Nutcracker (A True Story)

A rite of passage for most little girls- this mom wanted to share the gift of dance, music, and magic with her daughter. Time it seems was of the essence- as Mom has recently been given an unfavorable health diagnosis. She wanted her daughter to have this happy memory.
A day was planned. Tickets were purchased. And a day of Mommy and Daughter together were executed. A perfect day of shopping, lunch, and the theatre. There was just one problem.

As they presented their tickets- they were declined. They had unfortunately arrived for the wrong show- which had been performed earlier in the day.
“Is there anything you can do for us?” Mom asked as tears streaked her cheeks. “No, we have been sold out for months, said the box office attendant. “Is it possible we could wait to see if someone doesn’t show up?” said the mom
“Yes!” said the box office attendant. “There are 2 seats near the lights/sound station which have no view. Wait there- and let’s see if someone fails to show.”

“Mommy, I can’t see!” The little girl cried. “I know, honey, we have to be patient,” said the Mom. As the lights lowered, Mom lowered her head and prayed silently for a miracle. Just then, the ticket agent came rushing down the aisle. “Come with me!” she the attendant.
They followed closely behind the attendant in the dark. 3rd row from the front. “A family called at the last minute- they said to give the tickets to someone in need- they can’t make it”.
Tears of relief and joy. The familiar music started. “Thank you” the mom said, choking back tears. Dance- Music- Magic.
Be generous to a stranger who can never repay you. That is the Christmas Miracle.
