Boats and Ships off the Spain and Gibraltar Coast on a Gorgeous Mediterranean Day!

It's always a sight to behold looking out at the massive frieght ships that anchor just off the Spanish and Gibraltarian coast. These areas area like parking lots for these big ships. el Canal España/Gibraltar

This is their last stop before they cross the Atlantic which is a journey that takes several weeks! When they are here they fuel up and get supplies. Special boats go out to the large ships, a guy climbs up to the top of the ship and gets the order of supplies they need. He then heads back to land, puts in the order and waits for it to be filled. When its ready, usually within a day or two he heads back out with the supplies to leave them with the ship.

On a daily basis there is anywhere from 10-20 ships parked in this area but sometimes more. On the other side of Gibraltar there is often times even more. On our Spain side there is a major port across the water and lots of ships doc there.

Its really cool to be able to look out and imagine what these ships are carrying. Remember a lot of them are coming from around the world and they have to pass through the straits of Gibraltar, so they pass through here!

I take videos at this spot for my channel @ministry of flight on youtube. The planes fly right overhead in this spot, check out how close they get here:
