Following Argentina's thrilling victory over France in the World Cup final on Sunday, hundreds of jubilant supporters gathered around the obelisk monument in Buenos Aires.

Some fans said they suffered on the route to the third world trophy as they climbed on traffic signals and splashed their drinks into the air. One supporter remarked, "It's insane, a party, this is fantastic for all of us."

The victory is Argentina's first in nearly 40 years, and it was Lionel Messi's probably final opportunity to capture the World Cup.
