Studying the biodiversity of Canada’s oceans

At Fisheries and Oceans Canada researchers across the country work together to study and protect the incredible diversity of species, habitats and unique marine ecosystems through ongoing research and monitoring activities which inform management actions. The Government of Canada is committed to working in partnership with Provinces, Territories, Indigenous Peoples, industry, and other organisations to protect 25% of our marine and coastal areas by 2025, and 30% by 2030.
