Clashes in Paris after France’s World Cup defeat

Soccer fans have clashed with police in the French capital, after France’s dramatic last-minute defeat to Argentina in the World Cup final on Sunday. A general air of disappointment escalated into violence and confrontations with Paris’ riot police on the Champs-Elysees, as flares were ignited and fireworks went off.
