Demonstration of NOMA Ornamotion Decorations in Action! - Super Rare in the UK - (2016 Vid)

Today we have a video from our Archive, it dates back to 2016, and it is our personal tree featuring not only multiple sets of PIFCO, NOMA and Woolworth lights, but multiple NOMA Ornamotion tree ornaments.

The Ornamotion decorations are unique to themselves, they consist of a motor that hooks onto a tree or garland, it has a small wiring loom with a push in bulb connector on the end that can be pushed in place of a bulb from a set of 20 or 40 lights.

These light sets power the motors which you then hook on the NOMA decoration, the decoration then slowly spins around giving our trees an expensive department store look.

You don't need to buy the Ornamotion decoration sets to get this effect, NOMA sold the motors separately in packs of 3 so people can hang decorations of their choice on the tree to spin.

These decorations are originally from the USA and imported to the UK in the 90s, they were mostly sold at Garden Centres and were very expensive to buy, they rarely come up on ebay, and when they do the prices are hit or miss.

I have seen them sell for sub £10 and all the way up to £40!

We were lucky, we found an auction from a Garden Centre that was closing and made an offer to buy 8 ornament sets and 2 packs of motors for £60.

They have only made a single appearance on our tree, but perhaps they will get put back out again one year, before then we shall do a full exploring video of these decorations with an up close look of them and a demonstration.

Do you have any NOMA Ornamotion decorations?

How much did you get yours for and where from?

A little 'light' history.

The early 90's were the beginning of the end for 'classic' style Christmas light sets, new manufacturing and safety laws saw the delicate thinner cables replaced with thick and bulky black ones for 240v sets of lights, making them look cumbersome and chunky.

NOMA still produce some 'classic style' sets of lights, identical to the late 80's lights but unfortunately with this thick cable.

Over the years, Christmas lights have been replaced with characterless, shadeless sets of lights, then eventually we got the domination of LED lights.

Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of modern lights that I do like, and I will try to do some videos about them too.

We do hope that one of the legacy firms like PIFCO or NOMA bring back the classic style lights, perhaps in low voltage LED form in sets of 20 and 40, and possibly 60-100 too with the old style shades, a mix and match option would be brilliant.

What do you think ?
