In this video, I tell the story of St. Nicholas that, in the Greek and Russian traditions, explains not only why Christians give gifts at this time of year, but WHY they do it in the secret manner in which it is often done. No, there is no pagan belief, God or ritual involved, but merely the humble, pious life of the 4th century bishop of Myra.
