A source has reportedly told CNN a request by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to play a video message to the crowd and audience of this weekend’s World Cup championship was denied by FIFA. Zelensky’s office allegedly reached out to FIFA asking for a recorded or live video of the Ukrainian leader to be played on the Qatar stadium’s jumbotron screen. The Ukrainian government was said to have been caught off guard by the soccer organization’s decision, with a source telling CNN, “We thought FIFA wanted to use its platform for the greater good.”
