The Church was built in 1220, by Knights Templar as a commandery church.
In 1228, during the sixth Crusades construction began on Old Tempelhove village church.
In 1230, the Old Tempelhove village church was constructed and completed.
During Teltow War from 1239 to 1245, the church was damaged by fire.
In 1247, a deed was issued at the Walkenried Abbey as a Komturhof (commander's court, the smallest holding entity of a military order) of the Knights Templar.
In 1250, the Church was reconstructed.
In 1291, the knights had been expelled from the Kingdom of Jerusalem upon its downfall and returned back to Tempelhof.
In 1312, the knights of Saint John (the Johanniter), backed by Margrave Waldemar of Brandenburg, took over the villages of Tempelhof, Mariendorf, and Marienfelde.
In 1435, the Knights sold their estates to the city of Berlin.
On November 1, 1539, Protestantism came to Old Tempelhof.
In 1648, the church was renovated.
In 1652, the church received minor repairs.
In 1711, the church was renovated.
In 1717, Tempelhof became part of Cölln/ Berlin.
In 1832, the church was reconstructed.
In 1900, Old Park was constructed in Tempelhof.
On March 3, 1943, the church received its first bomb damage from an Allied air assault.
On January 29, 1944, the church was fired bomb by an Allied air assault. The roof and inside of the church were totally destroyed. Only the walls were standing after the firebombing.
On September 12, 1954, reconstruction began.
On September 16, 1956, Construction was completed. The church was open for services.
