The Housing Market is as Competitive as Ever Despite Soaring Costs

In the middle of the stock market and crypto meltdown, mortgage rates fell to a 3 week low. It may be that we hit the top, but we'll see.

A pattern has started that when other investments like stocks and crypto get hit, investors flock to mortgage bonds as a place for a safe return.

But, wait, isn't there a recession coming? Won't that mean a housing crisis or crash?

Well, it does not seem like that to investors. 

For example, mortgage delinquencies continue to drop. In fact, according to the leading source of mortgage payment data Black Knight, mortgage delinquencies are 40% lower than last year and at an all-time record low. The run-up in values has allowed most troubled homeowners to either sell or refinance out of trouble already. Zillow's market update, after detailing all the increases in values and mortgage payments, concluded their estimate that homes will appreciate over 11% over the next year again. So, if you are borrowing funds even at 5.5%, if the home goes up at 11%, you are going to enjoy huge appreciation.
