ALWAYS USE FULL ROM

Unless…..

It’s the end of your set and you’re SAFELY eeking out some extra partial reps for time under tension. Partial reps are a intensity technique used to extend the set that started with PERFECT, FULL reps. You should not do an entire set of partial reps.

Muscle can’t count, it’s really stupid, so instead of aiming for a rep range, aim for perfect reps with a weight that challenges you and progressively overload over time. Science has shown that as long as you reach the same degree of failure (or near failure) in a set, it doesn’t matter if you get 8 or 20 reps for the purpose of hypertrophy.

Using full range of motion activates more muscle groups and enhances the overall effectiveness of the exercises. It also enhances flexibility and will (in my opinion) PREVENT injuries since you have to use a weight you can control and achieve the full ROM.

Don’t cheat yourself - use full ROM!
