Protesters in Peru demand early elections after democratically chosen leader impeached

The Peruvian government has announced a national state of emergency as protests across the country enters their second week, following the impeachment of former president Pedro Castillo. The thirty-day measure will authorize curfews and suspend the public's freedom of movement and assembly.
