Instagram restores sexual assault video, citing ‘newsworthiness’

An Instagram video of an Indian woman being sexually assaulted by a group of men has been restored on the platform after an oversight board underlined its newsworthiness.

Despite recognizing that the video both violated the company’s Adult Sexual Exploitation policy and may also ‘embolden perpetrators,’ it ruled that the content should remain in order to raise awareness.
