Kyiv mayor: Air defense systems shot down 11 Iranian-made drones, debris in Shevchenkovsky district

Explosions were heard in the early hours of Wednesday in the Ukrainian capital city of Kyiv.

 Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that air-defense systems shot down 11 Iranian-made Shahed drones early on Wednesday.

Blasts sounded in Kiev’s Shevchenkovsky district, city mayor Vitaly Klichko wrote on his Telegram channel on Wednesday.

"Explosions in the capital’s Shevchenkovsky district," he wrote.

 An air raid alert was issued in the region at 05:55 local time.

Civil defense sirens are also sounding in the surrounding Kiev Region, as well as in the regions of Zhitomir and Vinnitsa.
