Lost fishing gear kills thousands of marine animals each year

Did you know that over 640,000 tonnes of fishing nets, or \"Ghost Gear\" are abandoned in our oceans every year? Whales, seals, sea turtles and other marine animals become fatally entangled, caught and trapped by left over fishing nets.
In honour of World Oceans Day 2016, and as part of the Global Ghost Gear Initiative, our divers remove over a tonne of deadly ghost gear from the ocean, freeing trapped animals.
Our Sea Change campaign reduces the huge suffering caused by \"ghost gear\" — lost or abandoned fishing gear that turns oceans into death traps for sea animals.
