Topping a Dead Stem on a Diseased Black Oak (short version)

Same black oak, removing the rear stem over the brick wall and motorized Iron gates.

This stem was leaning into the gates so the trick was to get it to fall to the 9 o'clock (off to the left about 45 degrees) and perpendicular to the sections I'd laid down parallel to the roadway to absorb the impact.

The lean was so hard to the gates that I used a static rigging line to keep it perpendicular to the roadway and landing logs I'd laid out.

This was improvised rigging as I often use when working alone and I am in no way recommending anyone try this the way they see me doing it.
