You'll Never Be Poor Again If You Internalize This Mindset💲💰
A 28 year old man asked me this painful question. He met with a bad accident at the age of 27. So he had to stop working and move to his parents house. Now after a year of solitude and recovery, he feels like he has lost his path. He has a few prospects at hand but everytime he feels somewhat motivated to apply to them, he goes into a state of discomfort and starts feeling uneasy about approaching his 30s and is still single with no career. He feels like a failure, and wonders if he will ever be able to turn his life around.
Here is what I told him and it’s a solution that you can use to overcome any failure in any aspect of your life no matter how many times you’ve failed already. So listen carefully. Here’s what I told him:
Do you think who you are right now is who you are going to remain for the rest of your life?
Go back a good 10 years and think about your 18 year old self. Were you the same back then as you are now?
We're constantly evolving. This is the biggest truth of life. Change is the only constant. Even if you try to remain the same with full force, you cannot, it's an impossible task. You're either going to be better than who you're now, or you're going to be worse. And it all depends on what you do today. What set of actions would you take now to make sure that your future is good?
If you think you'll remain the same unemployed person that you are now in the future as well, it means you're not putting any effort in the present to make sure that your future is good or you're taking a set of actions that's jeopardising your own future.
Why are you doing this to yourself? Think about it.
Having said that, let me now deal with your fear of unemployment. You're coming from a place of lack. I want you to build an abundance mindset, which is: it's a numbers' game. You have more options than you think you have.
There's no lack of opportunity out there. Just a lack of effort. Have you applied to 200 positions and got rejected 99% of the time? Can you even deal with rejection? How do you feel when you get rejected? Do you put all the blame on yourself? Or do you have the self esteem to believe that you'll do all right no matter how many times you'll have to face rejection and that you'll either find a way or you’ll make one?
Failure is irrelevant unless it is catastrophic. So unless all your hopes have been shattered and you are destroyed to the point of no return, all your failures amount to nothing. You can make a comeback any day if you just feed to your mind this single point again and again that failure and rejection is a part of the game, and so, you should not fear any short term loss you encounter when you are fully aware that you’re going to win in the long run.
If one thing doesn’t work, try something else.
If one girl rejects you, find some other girl or two.
If one company doesn’t hire you, apply to the next one.
If one way of life doesn’t suit you, seek a fresh way to exist.
And soon you’ll discover that there’s so much more out there that you can ever imbibe in a lifetime.
Remember this: It's a numbers' game. You have more options than you think you have. You just have to look out for more. This is the abundance mindset.
If you apply to 200 jobs, I'm sure you're going to get one. It may pay you little but it'll give you some self-respect and a chance to improve your skills. I suggest that you work for free during your initial days on something you really want to learn and get better at. So better that they can't ignore you. Then you can demand the top dollar.
Common sense demands that you make this effort because if you don't, you're sabotaging your own future.
People have gone from dirt poor to super wealthy. Rags to riches stories are real and true. Kids born in sheer poverty have lived on to become multi-millionaires. Read them. Study them. Believe them. How did they do it? They certainly started somewhere small and then built on it. They worked on themselves. They put effort into improving themselves. Nobody is born great. Great men are built through continuous discipline, focus and effort. These basic principles apply equally to everyone and whoever works on them with persistence and perseverance will certainly prosper.
And then all the failures you've gone through in the past turn into lessons of invaluable wisdom and experience that no one can take away from you.
