You won't believe the treasure we found metal detecting! We found MULTIPLE FIND of a LIFETIME relics in this adventure! There was a Sword, artillery shell, and more found buried treasure! It was filmed while metal detecting May 2020 in Port Hudson, LA which was part of the military campaign started by General Grant to control the Mississippi River during the American Civil War. General Ulysses Grant was in command of the Siege of Vicksburg, mentioned recently on the History Channel documentary on Grant.

The Union Army knew that Port Hudson was a vital post down the river that would have to be taken to give the union complete control of the Mississippi River. This could only achieve by Grant winning at Vicksburg and Banks winning at Port Hudson. The siege of Port Hudson was the longest siege inside the USA at that time lasting 48 days. Part of the History Seekers team used Minelab Equinox 800 metal detectors to recover buried relics from the 48-day siege of Confederate forces. The artillery shell found was a 20 lb Parrott chilled nose bolt believed to have been fired by the 2nd Vermont Battery also known as Holcomb's Battery. The battery was equipped with (4) 3.67 inch Sawyer rifles (cannons) and (2) 20 lb Parrott rifles (cannons) and was found near where Heath Jones from the History Seekers team found a rare Sawyer Bolt weeks earlier.
