Ukraine claims strike on Wagner group HQ, says ‘huge number’ of Russian mercenaries killed

A senior official in eastern Ukraine said on Sunday that Ukrainian forces had attacked a hotel where members of Russia’s private Wagner military group were based, killing many of them. The account in a television interview by Serhiy Gaidai, governor of the Russian-occupied Luhansk region, has not been confirmed by neither Ukrainian nor Russian authorities. FRANCE 24’s Gulliever Cragg said that if the claim turns out to be true, it would be a “very forceful, successful strike for the Ukrainians”.
