Cinema Diablo #104 -- The "Musical Epitaph"
Cinema Diablo was a public access TV show I attempted to do around 2008, composed primarily of film clips edited in a thematic, entertaining manner, but unfortunately, after I submitted the first episode, one of the "overseers" ripped me for copyright infringement.
Looking ahead, I had saved a small library of clips that I had ripped from DVDs rented from Netflix, and never got to use them. In 2017 I found a DVD of these clips on a work disc for Cinema Diablo I had tucked away in the back of a drawer, and decided to resurrect the project now that I had access to home video editing software at home.
I tried uploading these to youtube in the fall of 2017, but they gave me a copyright strike. I figured I would try again with the best of the four episodes I was able to reconstruct with the clips I had saved, and upload it here at Rumble. At the very least, resurrecting Cinema Diablo forced me to learn how to do video and music editing using Audacity and iMovie 11, and proved very helpful in my present work with original music video projects I have been experimenting with since then (see "I Spy" for example, available at my bitchute page: https://www.bitchute.com/channel/xkjX0dGc0B38/).
The opening number for this twenty minute "musical epitaph" for my short-lived series is Stevie Wonder's recording of "Hi-Heel Sneakers," but after that, all the music performances are my own original work, or collaborative music created with friends.
The subsequent songs are an original arrangement of "Theme from Psycho"(B. Herrmann), Revulsion, an original instrumental soundtrack (P. Cowan, G. Hohnholt), my arrangement of Henry Mancini's "A Shot in the Dark", with bass by Michael Rains and drums by Robin Toye, and "Into the Void" (Black Sabbath), a live recording of my old band the Street Karaoke Project, featuring Rich Paddock on bass, and Paul Wolford on drums, with Frank, a guest vocalist.
If you're unfamiliar with my video and music work, this is basically a 22 minute introduction of various phases of my 42 year exploration into creating sounds and visuals, often with collaborators. Check out my soundcloud page, which contains over two hours of audio tracks, if you'd like to do a deep dive into ALL 42 years: https://soundcloud.com/biggreg3000
