Serbs build barricades in North Kosovo over detention of ex-policeman, sound of sirens in Mitrovica

Serbs from the north of Kosovo and Metohija are setting up barricades in the town of Rudare in the northern part of Kosovo and Metohija, and according to our sources from Kosovo, the reason is the arrest of citizens on a list of suspects mainly for participating in incidents during protests at the pharmacy in North Mitrovica at the end of last year.

In North Mitrovica, sirens, common for such events, were heard calling Serbs to gather, and although they were not originally in Zubin Potok, they are now heard in this municipality, writes Kosovo Online.

The new barricades, as in previous years, were set up in the village of Rudare kod krusa and consist of several heavy machinery trucks, reports Kosovo Online, which adds that around 1,000 residents of Kosovska Mitrovica and Zvečani have also gathered.

2. Kosovo Serbs began to build barricades in the north of the unrecognized republic because of the detention by the authorities in Pristina of the ex-police officer of the Kosovo Interior Ministry Dejan Pantic. This is reported by Vecherne Novosti and Kosovo Online.

Pantić, along with other Serbian police officers from the Kosovo Interior Ministry, resigned in the middle of last month. He was detained on December 10 at the Yarina checkpoint when entering from central Serbia.

It is reported that the Serbs gather at the entrance and exit from the village of Leposavić. Several hundred more people gathered in Rudar, Srbovac, Socanica and Leshko. All the gathered Serbs are building barricades so that the arrested people are not taken to Pristina. At the same time, the number of participants is only growing.

Air raid sirens are known to sound in the north of Mitrovica.
