Why China’s relaxed COVID policies will cause as much chaos as “zero covid” did

Beijing issued new rules On December 7 to ease its COVID restrictions despite a COVID outbreak across China. But China won’t return to the pre-COVID life because the process of adjustment is just as chaotic and disruptive as the lockdowns. Some Chinese don’t want to see the end of mass testing and quarantine camps because Zero-COVID has become their milk cow. Xi Jinping’s “zero covid” wagon has been running wild. It’s impossible for the CCP to stop it without causing a major crash.
