Families, Children and Social Development Minister Karina Gould holds a news conference on Parliament Hill following her tabling of Bill C-35. The legislation would enshrine into law the principles of Canada’s early learning and child-care system, as well as long-term funding to maintain it. As of March 2022, the federal government has signed child-care agreements with all provinces and territories. Introducing the bill by the end of 2022 is required under the Liberal government's supply-and-confidence agreement with the NDP.
