Constantine, The Great-Architect of Christianity

Hey everyone! Welcome to Keto & krime. This video will discuss the Christian emperor Constantine the first, the great Roman emperor who attempted to reunite the eastern and western Roman empires. His attempt to make Christianity a state religion was a big step in the history of the Christian and Catholic churches.

The embrace of Christianity by Constantine signaled the transition of Christianity from a minor sect to a major religion. Constantine brought the idea that the one and only genuine God had selected him as the lone challenger for the throne by embracing Christianity, which was monotheistic. Aside from its political implications, the concept also represented a profound shift in the relationship between emperors and the divine. This convenient worldview rendered other claimants illegitimate and ensured Constantine's authority when there were several aspirants for the imperial throne.

Even though all of Constantine's measures were successful, he cannot be regarded as a revolutionary because he only followed precedent. Despite this, Constantine desired to govern alone and did not attempt to recreate Diocletian's tetrarchy system. He advocated for hereditary succession instead of the tetrarchy system as a succession principle. In addition, his belief in Christian monotheism justified his vision of solo emperorship.
