Long story short, you can make a whole lot more money if you plan out your book buying trips ahead of time. This works for Amazon Book Arbitrage businesses and for eBay Antique Book businesses like mine. I actually first started this whole planning model when I was doing Amazon FBA, so there's that.

By planning ahead, you get to hit multiple book sales in one trip, that means that you're making more stops and buying more books in one day. As I'm sure you all know, more books means more sales. More sales means more revenue. More revenue means more profit. And, after all, profit is the main reason why a lot of us go into business!
