"The Beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ" Mark 1:1-11

Today is the first Sunday of December. Christmas season has begun! In the last three years, we have looked at the incarnation of Jesus from Mathew, Luke, and John. I’ve put off Mark, because, as you’ve seen, he opens with an adult Jesus being baptized. No shepherds, no wisemen, no herald angels. But while we miss the Baby Jesus, we do see the Savior Jesus.
Mark calls this point the beginning of the Gospel, and it is vital that we never separate the birth of Jesus from the mission of Jesus. The “Baby in the Manger” is rich with theological significance, but Jesus didn’t stay in the manger. He grew, He walked among us, and He made the way of salvation.
