'Never seen this many': rare seals wash up dead on Russian shore

Residents in the southern Russian city of Makhachkala said on Tuesday (December 6) they were shocked that thousands of endangered Caspian seals had washed up dead on the Caspian shoreline. Local businessman Gadzhi Abdulabekov told Reuters, "I have been living here for about three years, but I've never seen this many [dead seals] before."
